Bosuil – Weert, The Netherlands
3 November 2006

The Swedish prog metal band seems to like this venue in Weert as they already play there for the fourth time. This time they are joined by Avatar, a dreadful death metal band from Sweden, especially the “singer” is a sheer nightmare as he just growls and growls…

Evergrey kicks off with songs like “Blinded” and “End of Your Days” and in the beginning of the show it is clear that the band is not quite warmed up yet. As the show continues the band becomes better and better, although the volume is again a little bit too loud to make clear distinctions between guitars and keyboards possible. But when they play “I’m Sorry” and “The Great Deceiver” I go wild and so does the band and from that moment on the show gets better and better.

The encores – “When the walls go down”, “Recreation Day”, “A Touch of Blessing” and “The Master plan” – are the absolute highlights of this amazing show. Tom’s vocals were truly awesome and Rikard’s keyboard carpets and solos were out of this world. A true pity that the first half hour of the show was a bit “mellow”, the second part of the show however proved that Evergrey is one of the best prog metal bands around at this moment.

Great show, good sound, crowd was very enthusiastic, great venue, what else does one need on a lazy Friday night?
