Firefest II - Part two (the one you weren't expecting!) Chuck Wright invited us into his hotel room before the show which was damn cool of him. He was pretty excited about a new music project with Matt Sorum from VelvetRevolver. “We are working on the music for a new TV documentary type show called Steel Dreams. It’s basically about fast cars and bikes” We checked out some info of the show which sounds pretty cool. If you are into Marvel comics then there’s a full on interview with Stan Lee, the creator of Spiderman, X-men etc and he tells why his “super heroes” ride motorcycles. It also features motor sport industry legends such as Dick Simon of Indy 500 and industry Titan Mark Green as they build an exciting world of Patriot Motorcycles. Now if that doesn’t get you reaching for your helmet check out our rear of the year. “Well once I discovered computer graphics I was really into it in a big way. I’m also building web sites but I have done designs for LannyCordola and David Glen Eisley and Pat Torpey. You should check my site”. He still seemed disappointed that the label had signed Greg to a solo deal just when it looked like he would be doing the House Of Lords gig but a photo we showed him of us all together at MTV raised a smile. We thought Greg deserved to be in here somewhere so here’s that classic line up that took the late 80’s by storm. You may even see some of our time together with the original House Of Lords on a future DVD so watch this space.
Danny Vaughn was in good spirits before and after the show. That’s the one thing about the former Tyketto warbler - he always seems relaxed. Unlike his band who we nearly got knocked over out side the hotel. Well we didn’t see the car coming and neither did they when Mick was taking the photo. They seemed a little disappointed because of a few minor problems on stage but we assured them “it was absolutely major out front” Ha Ha. No really, Vaughn was excellent. None of this bothered guitarist Big Tony Marshall as he introduced us to his wife yet again. Every time we meet up he say’s “have you met my wife?” We just laugh but he’s always got a drink in his hand so no wonder he’s always so happy. He’s a good character to have in your band even if you can’t get a word in. We hear Danny Vaughn is considering moving to Dublin to live and set up base. Now you see what influence Marshall has on you? He must have got him hooked on the Guinness already.
We ran into Paul Hodson who is a renowned keyboard player and since writing and producing music for Bob Catley is making a name for himself as a producer. He also played for Blue Tears. We exchanged ideas on studios and he was a big fan of the Line 6Pod reckons it’s just picking a sound you want and record it. Another interesting sound proofing idea was to use sand in between the wall cavity. Paul say’s “it’s the air you have to prevent leaking out. Sand is great at absorbing sound waves I used it in my studio walls and it worked fantastic.” A bit of technical shit for all you want a studio dudes.
Rear of the year! We are not being sexist here but no rock ‘N’roll show is complete with out the famous rock babes and there were a plenty out in force today. This cheeky young lady was not satisfied with having her picture took with one of the coolest players on the planet Lanny Cordola, she wanted another taking because her arse wasn’t in the picture. So here it is in all its wonderful rubber glory. Maybe rockunited should run a rear of the year for 2006 (how about it Kimmo?) [Editor: hmm...]. Send your pics in to Mick and Dez at baileybrothers@rockunited.com and we promise to keep Bandi at arms length. Here’s another shot of a fan who travels up to Maximes in Wigan a lot and says its still pretty cool up there with a glam night once a month that she enjoys. I think the rest of the month is pretty much a classic rock night too. She got a shot with Danger Danger vocalist Ted Poley for her trouble and Mick got a poke in the eye for his. Till the next time rock chums don’t forget the 11 th commandment: Rock Not Pop! (c)2005 RockUnited.Com
