THE LOUD & CLEAR INSTRUMENTAL COMPETITION RESULTS!

October 11th, 1999

A couple of weeks ago I had an idea of a poll. I thought it would be interesting to find out which instrumental albums and songs the AOR community thinks highly of. Now I have recieved your votes, and here are the results.

THE BEST INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM

Only a couple of albums recieved more than one vote, and they were 1) Steve Vai's "Passion And Warfare" and 2) Neal Schon's "Late Nite". Other artists who recieved votes included such "obvious choices" as Satriani, Malmsteen and Eric Johnson, but also rather surprising choices likes Miles Davis and Jesse Cook.

THE BEST INSTRUMENTAL SONG

Harold Faltermeyer & Steve Stevens' "Top Gun Anthem" appears to be the only song with more than one vote, but if I recall correctly someone sent their vote to AORlist stating Neal Schon's "Theme" as his favourite and someone said "I'll second that!", so it's a tie...Steve Vai and Joe Satriani recieved both two votes too, but for different songs.

All in all, quite interesting results, and it appears that us AOR people aren't as narrow-minded is we sometimes might appear to be...

Oh yeah, the prizes...The winners are: Edwin Van Den Kieboom (he gets the new Michael Lee Firkins CD & a Nuerra Records sampler), Christian Rupay (Dreamland CD & a sampler), Pedro Ferreira & Sven Depaepe (samplers for both of them). The winners will be contacted privately too.
