UPDATED! As April turned into May, Stockholm turned into a Rockholm... okay, okay, let's not try to be poetic! Anyway, organizer Chris LeMon put together a fine line-up of hard rock acts of the eighties, spiced up with some hot rock bands of today. Unfortunately, the Icelandic vulcano erupted and the flights were in jeopardy, so it was decided that the festival would be postponed. Still, there was a smaller scale one day Rock Out in May, and our review of that gig can be found here: RockOut May. The pre-show interviews of acts who played at that show can be found at the bottom of this page.
There will be not one but two ROCK OUT's later this year, a two-day event in September (10th & 11th) and a one day gig in October (16th). We interviewed the acts who will be playing, and here's what they had to say! Please note that some of these interviews were conducted before the vulcano erupted, so the artists may refer to acts that were supposed to be on the original line-up, not these current ones.

[ XYZ / PAT FONTAINE ] Apart from being a part of the Stockholm Rock Out line-up, give us an update on your band's recent activities? we have been hidden in a los angeles studio recording a fresh version of "when i find love" for a major TV show...we will be in fact playing it at the acoustic show cos it is somewhat of an acoustic version...the song was a big hit on the radio in 1993...and old is new again it seems... What kind of a setlist can we expect, any songs we might not have heard before? we will play a set list very similar to the one we had when we were touring extensively...no new songs in fact but some new arrangements of songs from the past...we will play every song that ever made it to radio....and the underground songs that our fans always request...
If you take a look at the other bands on the bill, do you feel that you're in the right company or wonder what the hell you are doing playing a festival like this? funny !...we always wonder what the fuck are we doing here ?...LOL !...no seriously we are thrilled to be associated with great fucking bands like Kix...plus we have never been to Sweden and we are thrilled to be able to shake hands and chat with our fans over there...it is also very cool to hang out backstage and talk to the other guys in all them cool bands...catch up on all the good gossips...like around a water cooler or a coffee stand at the office, but instead it's whisky and beer at a rock show...gossips are a lot more disgusting there believe me. Are there any particular acts in the line-up you'd like to check out yourself? we are in and out of festivals with most of the bands on the bill, so if we miss them one day we will see the the next one...i always try to hang out in the company of a few cold beers to check every band out...i always been a fan of Stevie in Tuff, he has a way of engaging in full blown conversations with the the crowd like nobody i ve ever seen before.

Free speech! well if you are hungry, we will feed you...we are authentic, no playback no lip-sync no pre-recorded anything !...we are tight and on key...we are boxers in the ring...we are rude and to the point...the hot dog will make you puke and that beer will make you piss...give us 30 minutes cos if you wander too far away we will play your favorite song when you can't hear it just to piss you off...stick around for XYZ....face down in the gutter!...
[ NASTY IDOLS / DICK QWARFORT ] Apart from being a part of the Stockholm Rock Out line-up, give us an update on your band's recent activities? Nasty Idols released the critical acclaimed album “Boys Town” last year, been following that up with tons of interviews, promotion and shit. We also been doing gigs in Scandinavia and Italy. What kind of a setlist can we expect, any songs we might not have heard before? Some new stuff and of course the older classics. We’re doing the title song “Hero For Sale” from the album with the same name for the first time. And of course we’ll do the song “Rock Out”…the anthem of the festival..ha ha.
If you take a look at the other bands on the bill, do you feel that you're in the right company or wonder what the hell you are doing playing a festival like this? We fit the fuck right in. When those other bands where on top of the American billboard we got our slice of fame in Europe and Japan with the ’91 album “Cruel Intention”. It’s a line-up of that glory MTV Headbangers Ball era…It will be fun as hell… Are there any particular acts in the line-up you'd like to check out yourself? It’s gonna be like jumpstarting some kind of a timemachine, and go back to the glory days of ourkinda musicscene, gonna be a blast!!! And for new kids to see what the hole fuzz is really about. 2 days of sleaze and glam distortion..in Sweden!! It’s a fucken creamdream!

[ TIGERTAILZ ] Apart from being a part of the Stockholm Rock Out line-up, give us an update on your band's recent activities? At the moment Tigertailz are rehearsing for some things we hope to announce soon. We are constantly writing material and looking forward to some great events in 2010, Stockholm being one of them of course. I have a new Album out April 23rd on Metal Heaven called "Only Come Out At Night". It is a great follow up to my 2009 release "PURE". The new album is full with Kick ass arena rock, it will knock you off your rocker, that's for sure. On "Only Come Out At Night" i have worked with some of my friends like Bruce Kulick (KISS), Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy/Mtörhead), Conny Bloom (Hanoi Rocks/Electric Boys), Ian Hugland (Europe) to name a few. I am very proud of it. What kind of a setlist can we expect, any songs we might not have heard before? I will do songs from my two solo-albums PURE and Only Come Out At Night, it will be a blast!!

I am pretty aware of that I might be a newcomer for some.. but I have been in the music business for 20 some years. I work as a producer at Polar Studios where I work with tons of more "famous" names. As the solo-artist Chris Laney and with my album Only Come Out At Night, I am sure people will feel I belong right there, among the rest. I just signed an endorsement deal with Rockstar energy drink, which means people will probably see my name and face pretty much everywhere soon. That is something that in todays music industry is important, to be seen..., I mean, there is no MTV that people find new rock acts thru today... And what better brand than Rockstar is there?? C'mon, RAWKSTAR lol, luv it! Are there any particular acts in the line-up you'd like to check out yourself? I love the debut album of Bulletboys, me and Zinny Zan has "Smooth Up In Ya" as one of our party songs whenever we hang out. I like most of the bands on the billing, it is like my vinyl collection came to life lol. Then there is a couple of bands like Crashdiet, whom I have produced etc. I will check out KEEL as well since I have been working some with Marc Ferrari over the years. I will show off my cool new amp Hughes & Kettner "Coreblade" for some other people (other than the audience) that will make some grown men cry lol There might come a time during the festival that people might want to crab something to eat. [ VAINS OF JENNA / LIZZY DE VINE ] [ NOTE: De Vine left the band before the gig, and new lead singer Jesse Forte played his first show in Sweden at Rock Out May.] Apart from being a part of the Stockholm Rock Out line-up, give us an update on your band's recent activities? We always try to keep busy. Late last year we released our second album "The Art Of Telling Lies" Trying to play show every week here in the US. We toured all over the country a few months ago and shot a video for out single "Mind Pollution" There's never a dull moment when you're in VAINS OF JENNA. What kind of a setlist can we expect, any songs we might not have heard before? There's gonna be songs from both of our albums played at the show. And we might add some cool covers to the set as well.

I'm a big fan of most of the bands we're playing with. I'm excited to see Damn Delicious on the TUBE stage. A new generation of rockers. Are there any particular acts in the line-up you'd like to check out yourself? Like I said earlier Damn Delicious on the Tube stage. Kix is gonna be cool to see as well.
