UPDATED! As April turned into May, Stockholm turned into a Rockholm... okay, okay, let's not try to be poetic! Anyway, organizer Chris LeMon put together a fine line-up of hard rock acts of the eighties, spiced up with some hot rock bands of today. Unfortunately, the Icelandic vulcano erupted and the flights were in jeopardy, so it was decided that the festival would be postponed. Still, there was a smaller scale one day Rock Out in May, and our review of that gig can be found here: RockOut May. The pre-show interviews of acts who played at that show can be found at the bottom of this page.

There will be not one but two ROCK OUT's later this year, a two-day event in September (10th & 11th) and a one day gig in October (16th). We interviewed the acts who will be playing, and here's what they had to say! Please note that some of these interviews were conducted before the vulcano erupted, so the artists may refer to acts that were supposed to be on the original line-up, not these current ones.

STOCKHOLM ROCK OUT III - OCTOBER 16th
(Bands confirmed: W.A.S.P., Steelheart, KIX, Crazy Lixx, Ted Poley, Badmouth, Spitchic)

[ KIX / MARK SCHENKER ]

Apart from being a part of the Stockholm Rock Out line-up, give us an update on your band's recent activities?

KIX is very active on the festival and casino circuit all year round, so we get to see a lot of fun places and perform with a lot of other really great acts we haven’t performed with before, for example Judas Priest, Scorpions, Night Ranger and Cinderella. We love to play live and we’re very lucky that
people still care about and love the band enough to take time out of their lives to come see our live shows. We’re also in the final stages of mixing a live CD that should be out soon..

What kind of a setlist can we expect, any songs we might not have heard before?

We haven’t finalized our set for the Stockholm festival yet, we have fan favorites that we play every show, we’d be in big trouble with the fans if we didn’t play songs like Cold Shower, Girl Money and Yeah Yeah Yeah. So we try to put in a good mix of mostly fan favorites and a one or two obscure songs that we like. There are more fan favorites than we have time for in a two hour show and we hate to leave that one person wanting to hear that one song, so we try to change it up to make it a little different every few
months adding what fans ask for. That way they will catch their favorite song next time if we didn’t play it.

If you take a look at the other bands on the bill, do you feel that you're in the right company or wonder what the hell you are doing playing a festival like this?

Not at all. It wouldn’t matter who we are playing with, we would still put on the same show and put out 100%. Sure a lot of the bands on the festival are from the same era, but we don’t think about things like that, we’re totally looking forward to it. We’d play with anybody, anywhere and hope to
gain new fans and give the old fans the high energy KIX show they expect from us every time..

Are there any particular acts in the line-up you'd like to check out yourself?

We usually go out and watch the bands before and after our show ducking in the dressing room about an hour before our set to get ready ourselves. We’ve played with Great White and Keel quite a few times and they are always really good so I’m sure we’ll want to and have time to check out all the acts. We like to take in as much as possible, it’s fun to watch great players perform.

There might come a time during the festival that people might want to crab something to eat. Here's your chance to convince the ones who don't know your band why they shouldn't leave the room when you're on stage! Free speech!

KIX is known for our high-energy hard rock performances, we have a long reputation for that and we deliver every time we go on. Eat between bands is my best advice. If I were in the crowd, honestly I don’t think I would want to miss anybody.

[ CRAZY LIXX / Andy Dawson ]

Apart from being a part of the Stockholm Rock Out line-up, give us an update on your band's recent activities?

Well, We signed with Frontiers Records at the end of 2009, In March/April we released our second album entitled 'New Religion' then we started playin'. We've done some shows in Italy, Austria and played some cool festivals, some here in Sweden like, Get Away Rock Festival & Rockweekend.

Now we have the Firefest in Nottingham England coming up, Spain, Finland and some shows next week two Swedish festivals then a show in Transylvania which will be awesome I think.

What kind of a setlist can we expect, any songs we might not have heard before?

No fillers just killers haha, We're gonna play one tune from the new album we haven't played before in Sweden. ´Road To Babylon.

If you take a look at the other bands on the bill, do you feel that you're in the right company or wonder what the hell you are doing playing a festival like this?

There's allot of good rock n'roll bands so yeah, I think we'll fit in.

Are there any particular acts in the line-up you'd like to check out yourself?

Yeah, I think we'll check out allot of them. I'm gonna watch John Corobi, I've seen Casablanca before and they are real good so I'll definitely gonna wanna see Ryan Roxie's other band Roxie 77. Chris Laney, great friend and great producer WILL SEE and some more.

There might come a time during the festival that people might want to crab something to eat. Here's your chance to convince the ones who don't know your band why they shouldn't leave the room when you're on stage! Free speech!

Groove, Energy, Riffs, Fills, 2's n' 4's, Swing, .. Just be there and you'll dance your ass off!

[ STEELHEART / Miljenko Matijevic ]

Apart from being a part of the Stockholm Rock Out line-up, give us an update on your / your band's recent activities?

We have been performing throughout the US and just finished a tour in Korea. All the shows have been overwhelmingly received and the energy is great. Things are moving forward and building momentum with the shows, new music and the Documentary film “God 2B alive”

What kind of a set list can we expect, any songs we might not have heard before?

Absolutely, this is a new generation of SteelHeart. With respect to my past, this is not the eighties SteelHeart. We will perform some songs from the movie “Rock Star”, for those of you who didn’t know, I was the singing voice for Mark Wahlberg in the movie. We will perform a few songs from the old SteelHeart days and the new album “Good 2B Alive”. This is a high energy Rock show. If you have a week ticker/heart you may want to stay home.

If you take a look at the other bands on the bill, do you feel that you're in the right company or wonder what the hell you are doing playing a festival like this?

We see our past as a stepping stone to where we belong in our future.

Are there any particular acts in the line-up you'd like to check out yourself?

Honestly, I show up a little before I go on and roll shortly after the show. No disrespect to any of the bands and not to be arrogant, when I am on the road I am fully focus on my performance.

There might come a time during the festival that people might want to crab something to eat. Here's your chance to convince the ones who don't know your band why they shouldn't leave the room when you're on stage! Free speech!

We are true to our art and we kick some serious ass
