STORY OF JADE: "The Damned Next Door"

STORY OF JADE and their debut album 'The Damned Nex Door (know your neighbors)' -  Horror metal is a huge part of the Italian underground scene as it's buried deep into their roots just as pizza and pasta. Yeah, well, they have several of those mad producers of (slightly) disturbing splatter/horror movies... and there seems to be new followers of the genre each and every year since the days of Death SS really. The image goes hand in hand with their musical concept. It's the corpse painting, zombies, dead bodies, and various other strange objects and items of horror and terror. Find out more about the band and their debut album, here's 'Yndy' from: STORY OF JADE...

How has the reaction to your latest CD been?

It's been really cool! We have a lot of good feedback from press and from people as well. It isn't really easy to debut with an independent label in 2011, but Worm Hole Death is doing a good job to promote us and we’re fuckin workin' hard as hell!

How long did this CD take to make from start to finish, recording-wise?

The recording session wasn't that long, but we spent a fuckin month mixin' it, the guy wasn't into metal at all but we were there 24h and with the help of the producer Carlo Bellotti we did it!

What kind of 'sound', production wise, did you have in the back of your mind, prior to entering the studio?

We was looking for a modern fat and evil sound for the album. We have a lot of "old school elements" in our music but we really had the will to make it sound clear and loud.

What kind of input did the producer have during the process?

We were at our first "producer experience". Carlo did a great job with us, trying to help us to find solutions to make the songs sound better givin us total freedom in composing and arranging.

And are you pleased with the final outcome? (sound - production wise)

Of course we are!

Did the producer (you) use any (weird) experimental miking and/or recording techniques?

Not Really.

How did you go on about capturing your 'live sound' in the studio, or perhaps you didn't

Actually we didn’t look for a live sound, we were looking for a clear, blastin’ studio sound. We just play what we play live in the album, but as i told you it was important to make it sound crystal and big.

Please inform us about your favourite songs and lyrical highlights and why?

Well, I can give you my personal opinion (Yndy T. Witch, drummer), I love all the songs in the album but the ones I love a little more to play live are C.F Virus S.0.1., Self-Inflicted masterpiece and N.W.I.

Any overall theme of mood that you're trying to capture while writing songs?

The lyrics are written by Bapho and me. I get inspired by a lot of things 'cause almost everything can be transformed into a horror situation! For exemple, the idea for "Lulladie" comes from a cartoon for children, "C.F. Virus S.0.1" was inspired by the scenario of fear built by the medias about the H1N1 virus, "J.A.D.E."'s about us, "H.M.K.M" is inspired by Metalheads, and so on...

Does your vision for coming up with music get affected at all by time?

The main thing is to play our own music, the music we like to play. It’s about unconditional passion… but money and success are always welcome ahahahahahah

Did the record company interfere with anything on your "sound" and songs?

Not at all.

Are there any 'crazy' behind the scenes anecdotes from these sessions that you can share with us?

Not really… not to be shared

How would you describe the sound of your new CD to any potential new fan?

Heavy sound, black humor, Metal 360°… It’s fuckin' Story Of Jade, man! ahaha

Who are your influences and heroes? (music-wise)

Slayer, Judas Priest, King Diamond, Necrodeath, Notre Dame, Goblin/Daemonia and many more! About heroes… the underground fuckin' bands and supporters

If there's anything you'd like to add, say, please do:
