"All About The Album" - If you'd like to feature your band/album, email: urban St.PROSTITUTE: "Here Come The Prostitutes" St.Prostitute? It's good old fashioned, straight up rock n roll and sleaze 'ala the LA scene of the eighties. Bags of attitude as well as the power ballads and fuel injected material. Founded in Denmark back in 2007 under the name of LA Prostitutes by the four lads aka Fussy Korsholm (vocals/guitar), Morten Korsholm (lead guitar), Kim "Finn" Mikkelmann (bass) and Jack Andy (drums). Find out more about their debut album, "Here Come The Prostitutes", here's their lead guitarist: Morten Korsholm... How has the reaction to your latest CD been? The reaction has been great! Great reviews and the album has sold in Denmark, Sweden, UK, Germany, Japan, USA etc. So we can't complain, except that we have not sold 1 mio. albums yet...hahaha!! How long did this CD take to make from start to finish, recording-wise? The album is recorded over several recording sessions in Medley Studios in Copenhagen. It took almost 2 years to finish the record. What kind of 'sound', production wise, did you have in the back of your mind, prior to entering the studio? Our goal was to record a good sounding rock album. We had no specific sound in mind, other than it had to sound "non-Danish". The result is absolutely amazing! Soren Andersen did a great job as producer and engineer. Further he mastered the album which we think came out great. What kind of input did the producer have during the process? Soren Andersen came up with minor changes to arrangement and had a clear vision with all the vocal parts (lead and chorus). And are you pleased with the final outcome? (sound - production wise) HELL YEAH!! Did the producer (you) use any (weird) experimental miking and/or recording techniques? Have no idea! We were not involved in that process. Our focus was on playing music and drinking alcohol! How did you go on about capturing your 'live sound' in the studio, or perhaps you didn't This album is recorded "live". Medley Studios have several "guitar rooms" and a main recording area, making it possible to record live as a band. This is the way we like it. No cue tracks - no nonses, just plain ROCK *N* ROLL!! Please inform us about your favourite songs and lyrical highlights and why? Personally I like the "up-tempo" tracks, especially opening and title track "Here Come The Prostitutes". But "Hell Yeah !!" is also one of my favourites because of the chorus (red. HELL YEAH!!). This statement transcens time and is universal. Further it's very powerful and was fun to record. We had a few of our friends in the studio just to scream "HELL YEAH" in the mic. and have a few cold ones with us afterwards! Good times.... When it comes toe lyrics, I like A Bitter Man's Lullaby. Just listen to the song and you know why! Any overall theme of mood that you're trying to capture while writing songs? I know from lead singer Fussy Korsholm, that the lyrics have to come naturally, with no intension of specific themes or moods. And we all know the fact that really good songs comes naturally after at least 10 beers!! Did the record company interfere with anything on your "sound" and songs? This album is released independedly on Gateway Music as distributor. We are "our own" record company, so no interferrence. With this debut album it was very important to team up with a record company that could see the potential in this band and have the skills to to back us up musically and business-wise (promotion, distribution etc.)! We had a few offers from different record companies around the world, but none of them could provide us with the "right" deal. Therefore we decided to release it ourselves. We own the rights to the songs, record and master. So we just wait for the "right" offer!! Are there any 'crazy' behind the scenes anecdotes from these sessions that you can share with us? Hahaha - almost too many to mention! But one late night after 10 hours of recording, we started to party in the studio with a heavy consumption of alcohol. After a few hours the studio closed and we went to the nearest bar called "Märkbar". After hours of partying and drinking the lead singer almost passed out on our way back to the apartment, so we had to carry him home. Next day he went into the studio and recorded vocals for HELL YEAH, almost flawlessly!! Our lead singer is sometimes from another planet..
How would you describe the sound of your new CD to any potential new fan? This is a diverse album containing high octane rock *n* roll, a few ballads and some mid-tempo songs. The sound is modern with a heavy influence from the 80´s. Who are your influences and heroes? (music-wise) Guns N Roses, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, Steel Panther, Foo Fighters, Shinedown etc.. If there's anything you'd like to add, say, please do: Please spread the word about St. Prostitute. We need all the support
we can get.... Cheers!!
