US AMONGST THE REST: "Follow The Truth"
US AMONGST THE REST- up and coming (modern) Melodic Rock U.K. act from York with their debut album, "Follow The Truth". Find out more about the album, here's: UATR
How has the reaction to your latest CD been?
The reaction has been extremely positive so far and we are getting a lot of amazing feedback about the singles we have released so far. We’re quite blown away!
What kind of 'sound', production wise, did you have in the back of your mind prior to recording?
When we sat down with Joe and Sam (Graves) we mentioned that we were not after a particular kind of sound but there were elements that needed to stand out. For instance we wanted a drum sound that would cut right through and give a stadium rock feel.
How long did this CD take to make from start to finish, recording-wise?
Just under 2 months I believe – that was without a day off in-between.
What kind of input did the producer have during the process?
Joe and Sam had the overall vision of the songs clearly thought out so their input was to help bring those visions to life. Trust is a massive factor and we had full faith in both of them.
You lost your first album in pre-production as well as firing your previous management team. What ever happened there really?
The producer we were using before had not backed up our work onto an external hard drive so everything was lost when his equipment broke down. Our previous management team were unprofessional and exploited the loss of the album situation with false promises and extreme mind games!
Are you really "alternative rock", if the music is radio-friendly?
I guess not in the true sense of the term ‘Alternative Rock’, however that was more the ‘tag’ we gave ourselves when we first started out. I guess we didn’t care too much about genre name to change it…we’re just writing songs we love!
What do you think about the state of the music in your hometown of York?
It’s so eclectic!! There is not one band the same and we think it’s great. It certainly makes for very interesting hometown shows.
Any overall theme of mood that you're trying to capture while writing songs?
Yeah definitely, I mean we had various salient fragments that we wanted to hold on to through the writing process but the one that kept making itself explicit was this one of Truth and Discovery
What's the story behind your moniker?
It’s a name built around irony I guess. It was actually the name of a song to begin with before we even had a name. It’s an ironic statement really, not wanting to be just one among the crowd.
What are the bands immediate plans?
TOUR, TOUR, TOUR!!! We just need to spread the word!
