We expect to have Carl here around November 2002 possibly with a new album. While on tour with Supertramp, Carl is writing new tunes together with (also Supertramp) bassist Cliff Hugo. [8th June 2002] RIK EMMETT & JOHN TAGLIERI LIVE TOGETHER |
A Legend And a Rising Star Showing The Bottom Line of Independence! NEW YORK, NY (June 5, 2002) - Kicking off the July 4th Independence Week on a high note, legendary guitar virtuoso Rik Emmett and rising NJ singer-songwriter John Taglieri will perform an intimate acoustic evening at the Bottom Line in New York City on Tuesday, July 2nd, at 8:00 p.m. This marks Emmett’s return to New York after more then a 15 year absence and Taglieri’s first performance at the venue. Emmett is one of Canada's most respected musicians -- an award-winning guitarist, multi-talented singer, songwriter, and a producer with his own independent recording label. As a founding member of Triumph, his blazing guitar solos and trademark vocals helped push the Toronto-based trio into multiple gold and platinum sales worldwide in the '70's and '80's, and earned him a spot in the Canadian Rock Hall of Fame. Guitar Player Magazine once described Rik as "one of the only guitarists out there who may be too talented for his own damn good!" With eight solo albums under his belt in various musical flavors, and 2 more on the way, Emmett continues to impress and intrigue critics and fans alike with his versatility and the volume of quality material he produces. "When a one-trick pony starts turning into a horse who can change colors, that's something," said Emmett. People go, 'that's interesting.' Even critics and journalists look at it and say, "That's kind of cool and different.' The styles range from Jazz to Classical, Folk to Blues, and straight-ahead Pop/Rock. The shows are intimate. "It's kind of like MTV's Unplugged, in that I'll sit on a stool, play music, and tell stories," said Emmett. "It's great, because I can play some of the songs I want, whether they're blues, jazz, or classical." This performance will be the U.S. CD Release party for not one, but two new CDs; "Handiwork," an all-instrumental Jazz CD, and "Rik Emmett "The BEST OF" which includes freshly recorded solo versions of "Hold On," "Lay It On The Line," "Suitcase Blues," and fan favourite "Middle Ground." The "Best Of" CD is being released as part of Universal's successful 20TH CENTURY MASTERS series. Warming up the crowd for Emmett and having just finished wrapping up a 45-date nationwide tour, John Taglieri has been working hard to promote his current CD, “Leap Of Faith”. Signed to indie label A2 Records, he has seen great success in the last year with fantastic press, solid CD sales and a steadily growing fan base. Getting ready to head back into the studio for his sophomore effort, Taglieri will be promoting the lead single, “Angels Among Us”, off his next CD “What It Means”, which is due out in September. "A talented guy...I like his voice!…This is a great album!" said Todd Pettingill of the Scott & Todd Morning Show on WPLJ Radio about Taglieri. "…a diverse blend of catchy pop rock songs infused with the pure emotion of John's remarkable voice." said Deann DiNardo of Steppin' Out Magazine. Taglieri’s live show is filled with emotion and power, with catchy songs that should not be missed! This is the first time that these two dynamic performers will share a bill and it will definitely be a night to remember. The Bottom Line is steeped in a long history of bringing the very best of the best to the masses. The list of performers that have graced it’s legendary stage read like a who’s who of the music business, with many long careers being launched from it’s illustrious stage. SHOW INFO:
