[31th August 2002] SWEDEN ROCK RECORDS! |
We are proud to present yet another cornerstone in the Sweden Rock concept. Sweden Rock Records is a new record label with the musical concept as basically the only common factor with the magazine and festival. Soo what is Sweden Rock music? More or less the musical territory that lies between seventies-oriented hard rock, past melodic hard rock and AOR to todays heavy metal. Our aim is to dig out and present new and fresh, as well as old but highly interesting bands, Swedish as well as non-Swedish. Sweden Rock Records makes a flying start with three strong Swedish aces in the hole. First out is a re-release of LOCOMOTIVE BREATHs album Heavy Machinery. Heavy and riff-oriented hard rock with a melodic touch and now with an extra track. As a parallel partner we present SPEARFISH and their second album Affected By Time for all fans of slightly Zeppelin-tainted hard rock with a modern touch. On the left wing we find a new and fresh dark horse TWINBALL, who could be described as a young, heavy and modern distant relative of classic Thin Lizzy. All three strong and fresh proofs that Swedish hard rock is of international top-notch class. If you however think were satisfied with these three teasers, boy, youre wrong! Within the next six months we have another bunch of highly interesting releases lined up for your heads! With strong releases, an internationally recognised and noticed concept, furthermore with an initiated and experienced group of people at the helm we guarantee Sweden Rock Records will soon be one of Swedens most interesting labels for friends of hard rock! A concept you can put your trust in! |

[31th August 2002] KISS ALIVE FOREVER - NEW BOOK |
More than two months before its official release, KISS Alive Forever: The Complete Touring History is already being hailed as "The Holy Grail of KISS books" and was recently one of only two books included in the New York Post's "Things that are IN this fall" write-up. This uncompromising look at the touring history of the most influential live concert act in rock explores the entire arc of KISS's career, detailing every one of the band's 1,810 performances. Seven years in the making, KISS Alive Forever is the end result of exhaustive research by its authors Curt Gooch and Jeff Suhs, who reveal hundreds of previously unknown stories and facts about KISS herein. Exclusive interviews with over 100 former KISS employees, friends, and even band members make KISS Alive Forever a thoroughly addictive, immersive experience. The already rich text is brought to life by the inclusion of over 175 color photographs, most of which have never been published before. For the first time, readers will be able to see the infamous 1974 photo shoot where Ace could apply only half of his KISS makeup, as well as several 1970s-era non-makeup shots. KISS Alive Forever succeeds in deconstructing the myths behind KISS's world-renowned concerts and lays bare the underlying story: the compelling tale of four young New York musicians who grew up to conquer the world of rock and left an indelible stamp on American pop culture. Curt Gooch and Jeff Suhs, previously worked together on the officially licensed KISS Trivia Challenge CD-ROM game. The authors will be promoting KISS Alive Forever through personal appearances at KISS Expos and on their official Web site, www.kissaliveforever.com where seven excerpts from the book provide a glimpse of this unique masterpiece. |
[31th August 2002] TAGLIERI'S RELEASE NEW SINGLE |
Maximum Velocity Records, along with Leap Dog Music and Ego Trip Entertainment, is proud to announce the release of John Taglieri's newest single, "Angels Among Us". The song, previously released independently by Leap Dog Music, received such a great response that Maximum Velocity Records has decided to sign and release the song to a national audience. The song will be released on Tuesday, August 27th, 2002. The song is a powerful, haunting ballad about the events of September 11th and the ensuing war. Dedicated to the FDNY, NYPD, & the Armed Forces, it has stirred the hearts of all that have heard it, frequently quieting entire rooms at Taglieri's live shows. Speaking from his heart and singing from his soul, Taglieri delivers the song with such emotion that one cannot help but feel the desperation and sincere sympathy that he conveys to his listeners. "John Taglieri is one of the finest songwriters I have met in years and it is our privilege to help release this song in memory of 9/11" said Scott Patterson, Founder of Maximum Velocity Records. "We want all to get involved and spread this great song, as it deserves to be heard. We are going to be setting up an MP3 download of the song that can be purchased with the money going into donations and we will also be setting up a fund for the donations. We are already talking to various agencies about the best way to distribute the money and feel that this is a fitting tribute to those who have fallen." "I am thrilled and honored that Maximum Velocity Records has decided to take me on and release "Angels Among Us" said Taglieri. "It's the most emotional song I have ever written straight from my heart and with all the sympathy and respect I could offer for those lost in this terrible event. I hope it can do some good." "John Taglieri was in the unfortunate situation of seeing the events of 9/11 happen directly in front of him and "Angels Among Us" is the result of him taking a long hard look at those who came to NYC's rescue when it was needed the most. We believe the song will send John down avenues, both musically and on a grander scale, that he hadn't expected to cross so early in his career..."said Dave Tedder of Ego Trip Entertainment, Taglieri's manager. The CD will be for sale on the Maximum Velocity Website at www.MaximumVelocityRecords.com with the proceeds going to charity. Taglieri is booked for several charity, benefit, and dedication ceremonies for the 9/11 anniversary. |

[30 August 2002] NEXX SIGNED TO N&T |
Highly touted Spanish melodic rockers NEXX have signed to Now & Then / Frontiers. Many will remember their appearence at The Gods 2001 where they were given a fantastic reception. Subsequent demo recordings and more live work at the likes of Nemelrock this year paved the way for the quintet to become the first Spanish group to sign directly to the label. Their debut album will be recorded in the UK at Mastertone Studios in Runcorn during October / November for an early 2003 release. The album will be produced by Pete "peewee" Coleman ( AC/DC, Wildhearts, The Quest, Napalm Death). NEXX are based in Madrid and were founded in 2000 by Bernardo, Jose, Oscar and Fran. Vocalist Patricia completed the linep, fitting perfectly with the style. Originally starting as a covers band things began to happen fast when they played at a concert to launch the Nemelrock Festival in Madrid a few months before the festival took place. They were then invited to appear at the main festival itself and therefore found themselves playing alongside the likes of, Harem Scarem, Dare, House of Shakira, 91Suite. The festival was amazing. The most incredible thing was after playing Harem Scarem's "Distant Memory" with Harem Scarem in the venue. They asked Patricia to sing a song ("Sentimental Blvd") with them the next day to sing! Following Nemelrock Nexx were invited to The Gods 2001 for another fantastic show. http://www.mejorsordos.com/nexx

[30 August 2002] ARABIAN CHAOS |
The ARABIA camp are now in full rehearsals for the forthcoming Z Rock Germany show, with only one member from the "1001 Nights " release still remaining in the band. After a serious bust up and the attempted sacking of John Blaze by the session players that appeared on the critically acclaimed debut, Z Records drafted in their US Attorney to bring matters to a swift conclusion during early August. Label boss Mark Alger stated " I have never before been forced to use our Lawyers in such an aggressive way, however it was vital for the bands future that we stood by John and defended our interests. The three session players officially resigned on August 27th, however some matters are still being pursued by our representatives and will hopefully be settle amicably" The bands forthcoming album "Eternity" will now be delayed until early 2003.
The all new line for Arabia is now: John Blaze - Vocals
To the fans of ARABIA, from John Blaze: As I sit alone in silence, I attempt to try and understand human behaviour. Why do some people succeed, why do some fail and why do some people remain honest and true and others harbor hate and try to hurt? Regretfully, I must announce that the existing lineup for ARABIA has changed. The now former members of ARABIA Dennis Feldman, Robert Marks and Thomas Jordan were, what I thought, friends of mine, as well as long time band mates. As many years passed under our belts, a resentment was ensuing that I was unaware of. At a most vulnerable time, during the creation of the second LP, these former friends collectively decided to continue their musical careers on their own. Sighting creative differences, they are moving onto other ventures. In short, they quit! Oh well, bye-bye guys!!! As I gather my thoughts, is it time to cower? NOOOO!
Or, Is it time to regroup and kick some ass? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! So thanks to Mark and the support of Z Records onward and upward!!! As you must learn to survive in this jungle known as the "music biz," a new band was formed in just 48 hours. Yup, 48 hours!!! The calls started (and pretty much ended) with my friends Dee Snider from Twisted Sister and Danny Stanton of Coallier Entertainment, Dee Snider's manager and agent here in the USA. As we all spoke, they informed me of some true "SMF's" (Sick Mutha Fuckers - Like Dee would know anything less!) I would thus like to proudly introduce and welcome the members of ARABIA. Randy Gregg on 4 & 8 string bass guitar and backing vocals. Randy, known for his stage energy with Dee Snider, ANGEL and other rocking artists was a must have for ARABIA. On drums, I needed someone with chops, dynamics and yet a pocket player. I have contacted Imy James who has been known to work under legendary great, Tommy Aldridge. Imy James is now on drums and keeping the driving force. Now, to find a guitar player who can shred. I called Mark @ Z Records in England and he told me that there was this cat in the Bronx, NY, named Eddie Campbell. I called Eddie and before I could hang up the phone he knocked on my door. Eddie will be the guitarist to deliver all the goods! Loud proud and relentless! ARABIA lives on. I am proud to continue on with Z Records and I am looking forward to an amazing second LP. I can't wait to see our oversees friends soon and ask each of you to welcome my new mates as I did. To the fans of ARABIA, I thank you for your understanding and support. For those of you who have stood by us, I will always remember, for those who have not, I will never forget. As life continues to amaze me, one thing always sees me through...that's music. Never judging, dishonest or untrue........So I try to remember, it's only Rock and Roll but I like it! BLAZE |

According to singer Jeff Scott Soto: "To clarify the latest gossip surrounding TALISMAN & HUMANIMAL, the real deal is there will no longer be HUMANIMAL. HUMANIMAL in a way was a retooling of sorts in where the direction of TALISMAN should & would go, now reuniting the band with drummer Jamie Borger for a possible spring release". |

[8 August 2002] OZZY SAVES MINER |
Roger Shaffer claims he owes his life to Ozzy Osbourne - because he went to see the Ozzfest on July 24 rather than go to work. Shaffer should have been working down the Quecreek Mine in Pennsylviania, but if he had been, then he'd have been trapped with his colleagues in a flooded mine. By a twist of fate, Shaffer and his wife Lucy had tickets for the July 7 Ozzfest date at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Burgettstown, near Pittsburgh (his day off), but this was postponed when Sharon Osbourne was diagnosed as having cancer. When the show was re-arranged, Shaffer should have been at work, but was persuaded by his wife to take the day off. That decision might have saved his life. |

[1 August 2002] NEW BURNING RAIN DELAYED - BUT STILL COMING! |
As many of you are aware Doug Aldrich recently joined the ranks of Dio for their latest album and US / European tours, however this does not mean the end of Burning Rain. The bands 3rd studio is near completion and will be finished once Doug's tour of duty with Dio has been completed. Keith St John made the following statement: "As many people are well aware of, Doug Aldrich, my partner in Burning Rain is currently performing on the Dio tour, and is therefore obligated to basically live full time on the road right now. So there's no telling exactly when we will be able to complete the next BR record which has been in progress since fall of 2001! I must say though that I am still quite excited about the songs we've written and the entire direction of the album. There are some very ballsy and hard edged grooves with aggressive tempos as well as a few poppier metal tunes and a couple of amazing ballads too! When the time comes, we will announce who's playing drums on this one but I think your obvious guesses are about as close as mine are right now! The release will still be with Z-Records.
